Default Rock Climbing at JV

While most of you guys wheel in the sand, I'll be climbing the rocks. Here are a couple of photos from Cougar Buttes.
GREAT climbing, and not as crowded as Joshua Tree.

Default rappeling

I used to be very into rappelling. I liked Australian style. Haven't rappelled for a long time. I rather miss it.

Well, if we ever decide to have a mass JV campout, I will bring my climbing gear.

My rope still has a few more months left until I have to retire it.

Heard about Austrailan style, and seen someone demonstrate it (and fail!) but never tried it myself. It's not kosher for Scouts to use this style anyway.

I used to teach my Army Explorer scouts to rappell Australian style. I find it to be a superior technique. I hope when we succeed at keeping JV open there will be a huge campout weekend to celebrate and then we can do some rappelling and some wheeling.
